Travel Creator Shares the Country Where He Felt Most in Danger

Out of the world’s 195 recognized nations, only a small number of people can say they’ve visited them all. One of them is Drew Binsky, a travel content creator who achieved this ambitious milestone in October 2021 when he arrived in Saudi Arabia, his final stop.

After years of constant travel, it’s no surprise that he has collected countless stories from around the globe. With millions of followers keeping up with his adventures online, he often shares both the highlights and the more intense moments from his journeys.

During an interview with UNILAD, Binsky spoke about one destination that stood out for all the wrong reasons. When asked which country felt the most unsettling, he pointed to Chad without hesitation.

A Frightening Experience in Central Africa

Binsky recalled spending time in N'Djamena, the nation’s capital and largest city, back in 2018. According to him, it was one of the most intimidating environments he had ever encountered.

He described facing both verbal and physical aggression during his stay, including a chaotic motorbike incident involving local authorities. In another situation, he said he was surrounded and attacked by a group of people after attempting to take photos.

He credits a tall local companion—whom he jokingly referred to as his “bodyguard”—with helping him get out of the situation safely.

Lessons Learned on the Road

Reflecting on the experience, Binsky emphasized the importance of staying aware of local customs and safety conditions. He highlighted a few key takeaways:

Always ask for permission before photographing people

Stay away from large crowds or public demonstrations

Prioritize personal safety and situational awareness

He also noted that Chad poses serious risks due to instability, crime, and other safety concerns, advising travelers to conduct thorough research and seek professional guidance before visiting.

For context, Chad—officially the Republic of Chad—is a landlocked country located in north-central Africa, known for its harsh climate and complex security situation.

Still Chasing Adventures

Despite encountering dangerous situations, Binsky continues to travel and produce content for his audience. In one of his more recent videos, he documented a challenging trip to India, during which he set out to tell the story of the country’s only female truck driver.

However, the journey quickly escalated when he found himself caught in multiple landslides—an experience he later described as one of the wildest adventures he’s ever had.

With his track record, it’s clear that his travels are far from over—and his audience will be watching closely to see where he heads next.
